Live scorecard and ball-by-ball details
The India-New Zealand Test in Hyderabad will have yet another delayed start, for the third day in a row, as rain came down over the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, which is on the northeast outskirts of the city. The Test was due to begin at 9am on Sunday but an hour before the scheduled start time, it was drizzling over the stadium.
Should the rain stop, the ground staff are confident that they can have the ground ready for play within 60 minutes. The Uppal stadium boasts one of the best outfields in the country, with excellent drainage, but the weather reports indicate scattered thundershowers through Sunday and Monday.
On Friday morning, the second day of the Test, play began nearly half an hour late as the groundstaff brought on the covers fearing a shower; the shower never arrived, but on Saturday, it did. Just after the lunch interval, the umpires took the players off before it bucketed down. Only 38 overs were possible on Saturday, with New Zealand 41 for 1 at stumps, following on in their second innings. The first session on Saturday also began late, delayed due showers before the scheduled start. But it was a full session, lunch taken late to make up time, and New Zealand were bowled out during its course for 159, after being 106 for 5 overnight.
