In April 2009, Virendra Sehwag became the only Indian to be honored as the Wisden Leading Cricketer in the World for his performance in year 2008.
Virendra Sehwag brilliance has no word to describe, his strike rates in test cricket are far better than any other players who have played the test cricket. Sachin Tendulkar (13,234 runs at 55.37) has a strike-rate of 54.12, Ricky Ponting (11,859 runs at 55.67) scores at a rate of 59.60, Matthew Hayden (8625 runs at 50.73) got his at 60.10, and Brian Lara (11,953 runs at 52.88) at 60.51. Sanath Jayasuriya comes closest, with a strike-rate of 65.10, but his average is just over 40.
Virendra Sehwag holds multiple records for the highest score made by an Indian batsman in Test Cricket (319 runs), which was also the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket (reached 300 runs of just 278 deliveries) as well as the fastest 250 runs by any batsman (in 207 balls against Sri Lanka on 3rd December 2009 in the 3rd test match played at Brabourne stadium in Mumbai).
Virendra Sehwag also came very close to world record of scoring three triple centuries in test cricket (but out on 293 runs) so at presently he shared the record with two other batsman of scoring two triple century in test cricket. But he is the only test cricketer to score two triple centuries and taken five wicket in an inning.
He also holds the record of scoring fastest century by an Indian batsman in ODI. He has achieved the feet in March 2009 against New Zealand in just 60 balls.
With some poor performance during year 2007 he was dropped from the team but made a strong comeback in the 2008 on the tour of Australia where he scored century at Adielade Test against the mighty Australians. Since he is going strong in all formats of the game.
